Tras el éxito que resultó de la primera colaboración de Eminem y Rihanna en ‘Love the way you lie’, el rapero decidió compaginarse nuevamente con la cantante de Barbados para crear ‘The monster’, tema que se desprende se su octavo disco The Marshall Matters LP 2.

Con este disco retoma la senda de uno de sus mayores hitos musicales, The Marshall Matters LP (2000), trabajo incluido en la lista de los 500 álbumes más grandes de la historia de la música de la revista Rolling Stone.

Para este nuevo proyecto, Eminem contó con la producción de Rick Rubin, Dr.Dre, No ID y S1 y el apoyo de varios artistas. Además de Rihanna, han participado el vocalista de Fun., Nate Ruess y la cantante Skylar Grey.

‘The Monster’ se convirtió en el séptimo número uno de ambos artistas en el Reino Unido, lo cual tiene complacido a sus seguidores. Es más, Rihanna es ahora, la tercera cantante que logra siete números uno por siete años consecutivos, después de Elvis Presley y The Beatles.

‘The Monster’ desbancó a ‘Story Of My Life’ del grupo One Direction a pesar de haber salido un día después. Este es el primer número uno de Eminem desde que apareció junto a Akon en ‘Smack That’ en noviembre de 2006.
