Buoys added to the ocean in the Galápagos National Park
Inocar, a division of the Ecuadorian Navy, is beginning to install twenty ecological mooring buoys around the Galápagos Islands today.
The buoys will help reduce the environmental impact of tourism, fishing and coast guard ships anchoring in the sea. They’re going up around the islands of Can Cristóbal, Baltra, Español and Floreana.
The installation of the 20 buoys will go until April 22. The Navy is employing the hydrographic boat Sirius and co-ordinating with the National Park and the Eimaga scientific research and navigation station.
